Greater Accra, Ghana
Based in the Greater Accra Region the site is located in between the major roads on the edge of Afienya and Dawhenya, currently housing a series of smaller settlements, small access roads and farmland. The proposed development is for a city supported by the already over-subscribed Accra and Tema.
The relationship between nature and the city underpins our vision for the new masterplan where the site happens to be nestled between the mountains and the coast, a truly stunning natural landscape. This was a great opportunity to create a new destination for business, tourism and sustainable living, including high-quality housing, first-class schools and healthcare centres, vibrant cultural destinations, excellent retail and access to ecological areas.
The zoning and land use within our masterplan responds to the natural environment of the site, and we have designed our residential areas according to the characteristics of the site. Hillside living to the north is focused around the river corridors and access to nature, for new communities. Further residential of an urban character is located towards the city centre with access and views to the towers and new lakes.
Business, Retail and Cultural centres are situated at the heart of the scheme, between the residential and government districts. We also proposed education quarters on the site consisting of local schools and Institutes for Higher Education, along with a Research and Development Park which can offer further ways to explore emerging energy economy in Ghana.
Our curation of the unique spaces and the connectivity between the various hubs through a carefully thought out transport network really allows our ethos of designing urban spaces for people to live, work and play joyfully to flourish.
